So I like to use the term "putting out fires". It means that I'm fixing problems and making things work.
My phone rings.
"The lumber-tally computer is on fire."
So I raced down there.
The good news is that there was a fire extinguisher not too far away. Its also good news that it was not actually the computer, which is a very critical machine that we would be pretty much fucked, without. Instead, a heater in the booth, near the machine was on fire.
So when I say "Oh, I'm just putting out fires!", I might be serious.
