Another weekend.

I wish I handled disappointment in a more mature way. Instead I work myself into a 7 year old temper tantrum and make life generally unpleasant for those around me.

There was no Donjon or Dogs this weekend. I did see Lord of War, and it was pretty good. I did *not* see Doom or Puddle Chasers, thankfully. Though Doom was watched while I retreated to the laptop and we tried to watch Puddle Chasers for a few minutes.

Rome Total War. My friend Mike gave me the Barbarian Invasion expansion pack, as he bought it but found that he doesnt like the game. Weird. On the same subject, they're working on getting Total War: Medieval 2 for late this year and that freaking ROCKS!

I've been MUSHing on Anytown, a new World of Darkness MUSH that I think I mentioned previously, but I'm afraid I'm already beginning to lose interest.

Snow

Right now I sit in the warm breakfast room by the bay windows, glancing occasionally over my shoulder to watch Yazhi tear through the snow. She'll stand and look at it around her and sniff at it, then like a bolt, she'll take off across the yard at full gallop.

This weekend I'm looking forward to getting some Rome Total War in, as well as some dice based gaming!

Call of Cthulhu/World of Darkness

So on Wednesdays a small crew of us gather for gaming. I think it was at one time John's homebrew d20 fantasy game. Then it was Mike's Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay game, then it was Jason's Shadowrun 4e game, then it became my Call of Cthulhu with World of Darkness rules... game.

Last night was session #2 of the CoC/WoD game, and we were carrying over from session #1 the previous week. We lost a player, but the four remaining players and I carried on.

The players found themselves in a small mining town in the midst of a blizzard. They settled into the Hotel after hitting a Native American with their car on the way into town, and soon after the murderin' started. Naturally our party were looked at as suspects by the local law enforcement. They did some digging and a little investigating and before long we had more murders, dead law enforcement, native americans who wanted them to retrieve a magical silver disc and some shot up investigators. Turns out there's a werewolf involved, but the werewolf is just a servant to some other "Darkness". By the time the story wraps up, the investigators kill the werewolf and then drive off the "Darkness" with help from the native american shamans.

Well, they kindof stumbled through it. The adventure is pulled straight from a published Call of Cthulhu book, which I might (or might not) continue to run through. John and Dave and eventually Jason did a pretty good job of investigating some stuff, and Mike did a good job of snooping around town.

I'm not running next week though as I have a staff meeting at work, but will see what's shaking the following week. Either we'll run some more CoC or.. we won't.. and we'll run something else... or.. we won't.

This coming saturday though I'm going to be getting a few people together for Donjon which looks like fun. And if we have time and interest we might take Dogs in the Vineyard out for a few laps.

Welcome back! (that part's for me)

Thanks for the reminder that I haven't updated here in ages. That I am sometimes flighty and prone to a short attention span will not shock or suprise those who know me.

Letsee... quick update on the last few months that I've negletect here..

Lets try this in semi-list format, shall we?

I have not been doing nearly as much excercise as I'd like to be. I've been super lazy. I need to get back into running and chinups and such.

I have managed to run myself and my one faithful Werewolf the Forsaken player through some fun stuff, but I've neglected it in the last few weeks and need to keep it moving.

I logged into a New World of Darkness MUSH recently and have been playing a bit. I'm of two minds on this. I enjoy the somewhat ready role playing and getting to play, yet these things usually require enormous devotions of time.

Christmas was very good.

I turned 30 in January. It didnt bother me as much as I figured it might have. In the months leading up to it I assumed I'd be super anxious and such, but its just another day. I'm healthy and in an okay place in life, so I have little to complain about. I do however find myself bristling at age jokes implying that I am in fact older and less fit and so forth. But I got to spend my birthday with dear friends, and so it was most excellent.

I gave Dogs in the Vineyard a test run with the same faithful player mentioned above. And we podcasted it :) (MP3 format, about 18 megs)

I actually picked up a book and started reading it, which I have sadly not done in.. years seemingly. At least a book that is not a game book. It is the Shroud of the Thwacker, by comedian Chris Elliott. Its quite entertaining.

I have been playing the hell out of Rome Total War, again. And it rocks my socks.

I am, this very afternoon, agonizing over the choice between purchasing Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. I can only get one right now, and it is a painful decision.

There's tons more that I'm missing due to having left this unupdated for ages, and for that I apologize to myself and to anyone reading, but I'll try to do better going forward.

Now with that out of the way, I will (shortly) respond to to a tag.
